10 Questions, 5 Steps:
- Where, when, how much?
Date is on top of our TT main page.
Location is Hohentauern/Austria + 6 km toll road to Edelraute Mountain Inn (short: Edelraute)
In pandemic times we prefer not to conduct an event in any kind, so we can not process a fee or offer any special services.
- Equipment, Gear ?
Proper winter equipment and some snow riding experience is required and expected . More on that here.
We try to help in case of a breakdown on the toll road. But we do not run a taxi service for optimistic riders with summer tires or no snow chains.

- How can I join?
Step 1: Register, if you are not on the List already.
Just send the required e-mail at least 2 weeks before the TT and read the answer: >>> Register.
Incomplete Requests will be processed last. Or not..
Step 2: Read the Answer.
Our answer will tell you if there is space left for your chosen accomodation. Usually we have 400 persons on the list, and only 170 places to give away.
- Camp site or unheated workshop dorm: usually there is always space for camping.
- Edelraute: Rooms or dormitory beds are fully booked end of October, usually. There still may be cancellations, so feel free to ask for a bed anytime.
- Day guest : This always is possible, but you have to find and book accomodation on your own, in Hohentauern or elsewhere. Find info on that here: >>> Details
Schritt 3: Put a reservation and check it.
Reply to the e-mail to tell us what acommodation you want to book.
You will get an e-mail to confirm, and your name will be status invited (green) on the list , which you should check online. Whoever is invited, HAS to be on the list. You will get the access credentials by e-mail on registration.
So check your list entry for errors.That's it!!
- May I stay for only one night?
We usually only have vacancies on Thursday night.
Bute we can put you on the waiting list, just in case something frees up short handed. We rather have a bed occupied for one night than let it unoccupied.
- Can I register a group of riders?
Basically yes, especially if you want the same accomodation for all group members. It will be more difficult the more persons you are and the later you ask.
Recommendation: It is way faster and quicker, if one contact person in your group does registration, reservation, e-mailing for the group.
- What does "Waiting List" mean exactly?
Once all places are booked and still more people want to come, we can put them on the waiting list.
If something frees up we check with people on the waiting list if they still would like to attend. With a quick positive answer on our request e-mail they can be invited.
So: if you are on the waiting list, check your e-mails regularly.
- What if I can not come or have to give up during my travel?
Step 4: Let us know if you can not join. Please write a short mail, whatsapp, text or call the Edelraute, even when the TT has already begun.

Your cancellation keeps you on the list for the next Tauerntreffen, and we may be happy to offer your place to another rider.
Please check your list entry later if the cancellation shows up.
- What do I need to bring or leave at home?
+ Info on how to get there is only available online, so make sure you print or save it on your device: >>> Details
+ Fuel is only available down in the valley, so maybe fill up before going up to Hohentauern.
+ Cash is required, no card payments available. Last ATM is in Hohentauern.
+ Grill, Barbecue, Stove if you wish - we can not allow open fireplaces, as we camp in a parking lot.
- Provisions you will need only if you do not want to eat and drink at the Edelraute all the time, which is a normal inn.
- Firewood you can buy at the Edelraute for a resonable price.
- Drinking water: fill up for free at the Edelraute facilities.
- No fireworks
- No beer in glas bottles, it will freeze and burst
- No public music
- No noisy heaters (car heaters, generators ...)
- No
extra supply vehicles, cars etc
- No gifts for us, we travel by motorcycle and can not take them with us.
CAMPING:
+ Trash bag - we ask you to take your leftovers with you.
+ Good quality tent pegs/screws for ice and frozen gravel. A drill would help as well.
EDELRAUTE:
+ Slippers. Crocs or the like for room/dormitory access (no shoes allowed there)
+ Towel (there is a shower, you can buy coins at the bar)
- What to do on arrival?
Step 5: CHECK IN.
Tell somebody at the Edelraute Bar that you just arrived.
While you are there, they also sell our souvenirs at the bar: patches, stickers and maybe mugs.
- Departure?
Did you pay for bed and breakfast?
Well then everything is sorted, and you will get an email in October if you want to join again.
