[German Version]

Roberts tunnel tent around midnight: not much left to see ...

Uwes Knepta, always recognizable because of the yellow light.

Morning has broken ... tirili ...

Hiking to the hut

Richards Duodrive. The guy had four 4 (!) snow chains..

Shovel, brush, jump start, ...

Erich slept outside, but - as always - did not complain.

Good guy

Also Iwan (usually sitting in the Knepta sidecar) had stayed outside ...

Our only solo driver this year was Robert from Korneuburg.

English delegation, featuring John Stanley, Navigator, in the foreground.

The DR 750. Frank came from Bonn/Germany

Still stormy on the last day: Thoeny and Achim on Achims Guzzi - Thoenys MZ broke down on the way to the Rally ... dynamo problems ...

Rieges first winter meeting with the MZ combination - Last year he was here with his SR500 - and no sidecar. Here before digging out the MZ TS 250/1.

Uwe preheating the russian (what else) petrol stove ...

Gert needed some help to get out

Reunited Germany - Eastern Superelastic sidecar on a BMW.

Shop

A little mishap ... the rear brake was frozen ...

... but no problem for Knepta to dig back on the road.

Edelraute

Done!

The toll collector

Finally, also the organisation team has to pack, and clean up ...

before going home, there was a last rescue trip to be made ... 20 km away Rieges MZ broke down with a damaged tyre valve.

Finally, 150 km later, at home. Shower, sleep!

The next day - all that stuff was on the bike ... Snow chain damages ...

OllYs Vow (he had passed that overturned car on his way up the Trieben Pass):

"I never again will go to the Tauerntreffen without having a snow chain. It was an adventure, but not to be repeated.
If I had to drive down to Trieben on snow, that would have been a really dangerous thing to do."

Uwes lessons learned:

  • The rescue vehicle (Knepta) also needs a snow chainon the front wheel, for towing
  • The rescue vehicle (Knepta) needs a cable winch
  • Also yellow leather needs to be greased
  • There should be a guy on site for preparing Glühmost (hot cider), otherwise 5 litres of cider have to be carried home again
  • It is useless to carry spare beer - 12 of 24 cans were frozen solid.
  • It is a good thing to tell everybody to take their garbage with them
  • Before riding down, you should check if your brakes work.
